Dog Training Services:

Do you have specific behaviors or issues you would like to address in your home? Is your schedule so busy you need training at your convenience or even someone to train for you? Are you looking for a trainer who will teach you to train your dog humanely in the privacy of your own home at your pace?

Always Positive Pet Training offers customized training plans for your specific concerns. Our schedule is flexible to meet your needs: days, evenings and weekends. If you prefer, we can train your dog for you. Lessons are provided in your home. The training methods we use are always humane and easy for you and your dog to learn. We take you through each step so that you and your dog always remain successful.

We do not handle aggression issues, but will gladly refer you to positive trainers who can help you.

Here are a few of the many issues we can help resolve:

  • jumping up on people
  • loose leash walking
  • go to bed or crate training
  • mouthing or puppy nipping
  • basic behaviors: sit, down, come, stay, settle
  • handling skills: for tooth brushing, grooming, nail trimming
  • housetraining

Training Options

Private in-home lessons:
These lessons teach you how to train your dog. Lessons are at your home and at your convenience. Days, nights and weekends are available. We teach by explaining the exercise, demonstrating it and then having you practice it while we coach you. Written instructions and training to work on between lessons are provided as well. If you have questions, we are available with phone and email support from lesson to lesson and for one month following your last lesson. Private lessons are best for people who can make the commitment to train their dog not just during the lesson, but also between lessons. Just like any type of learning, practice is required to achieve results. If you don’t have time to train your dog a few times a week, the next option may be better suited for you.

Day training:
This service is for people who have goals for their dog’s behavior but they may not have the time or interest in teaching their dog these skills. In this type of training we will come to your home and train your dog for you. We can come either when you are home or in your absence. Several training sessions are done each week to teach your dog the new behaviors. At the end of each week a meeting will be scheduled with you to show you the skills your dog has learned so far and how to maintain them. While much of the training is done by us, we will ask you to practice occasionally, follow any management techniques recommended and help maintain the behaviors. When training is complete, we provide one additional visit 3 weeks after the last lesson to see how you and your dog are doing together with the new skills we’ve provided.

Shared lesson with a friend or family member:
Sometimes training can be more fun when a friend or family member joins you. We are happy to provide semi-private lessons for 2 people who have the same training goals. Days, nights and weekends are available. We teach by explaining the exercise, demonstrating it and then having you practice it while we coach you. Written instructions and training to work on between lessons are provided as well. If you have questions, we are available with phone and email support from lesson to lesson and for one month following your last lesson. These lessons are best for people who can make the commitment to train their dog not just during the lesson, but also between lessons. Just like any type of learning, practice is required to achieve results.
